Spanish recipes such as Paella or Gazpacho cold soup

Filed under: Spanish gastronomy — SpainDreams @ 4:49 pm

Are you interested in knowing or learning some typical Spanish recipes for you to prepare at home or during your vacation in a self catered house or apartment anywhere in Spain?

Then why not check our Spanish cuisine section and try any recipe, such as a mixed Paella with meat and fish (just one of the many options of Paella): Place the saucepan over the fire with olive oil; add the chicken and rabbit cut into slices. When the pan gets hot, fry the before mentioned on a low flame until they get gold brown. Set them aside. Fry the chopped onion, red pepper, a pair of clove garlic and the tomato; add te squids and small clams. When being browned, add water, salt and the fried chicken and rabbit…..

For more information and ingredients on how to prepare the famous Paella, just check our website under:

http://www.spaindreams.com/eng/gastro2.htm

Other recipes include the cold and really lovely Andalusian Gazpacho soup, which is a great starter these months with a lot of heat in southern Spain. Another idea could be a Spanish omelette.

If you prefer that someone teaches you certain recipes, then you might opt for hands-on cooking classes, which are available in Madrid, Barcelona, Andalucia and other places throughout Spain.

Anyhow, just have a look and have fun.

Gracia, the Barcelona district street festival

Filed under: Barcelona news — SpainDreams @ 4:03 pm

Once again, the Gracia street festival will be on in Barcelona from August 15 to 21, 2007.

If you are in Barcelona these days for holiday or business, you should visit this buzzing and always interesting district. Specially at night it is worthwhile a stroll, as there are many live concerts from Folk to Jazz.

Last year, more than 1 millon visitors attended the festival.

18 streets will compete for different awards, such as the nicest or most innovated decorated street. Residents of those streets will have prepared the decoration during many months.
Experience the spectacular correfoc (a dragon spying fire while running back and forth through the local streets at night, and surrounded by devils with drums and fireworks). Get dressed with old clothes and a cap or hat and do not get to close to the dragon, specially with kids and take care of your kids.

Other activities include the also amazing human castles, a tradition throughout Catalonia, exhitions, sport competitions, art and activities for children, apart from fireworks.

Many of the streets will have a kind of sit-together of the neighborhood along long wooden tables in the middle of the street, enjoying lunch or dinner with home made food and barbecues, sardines, paella……

At quite some places food and drinks will be sold, so don´t worry about bringing along anything.

Come and enjoy the festivities.
