Day 1- Friday
Pick up at Madrid Barajas airport at the agreed time and transfer
to our chic and modern hotel situated in one of the prettiest
quarters of Madrid. Briefing of the trip over a tapas style
welcome dinner with wines with Designation of Origin.
Day 2- Saturday
10:30 hour. After a gourmet breakfast, we will pick you up
at your hotel to take you to our cooking school
in Madrid in the center of the city. We will visit a local
market to buy and learn about the ingredients we will use
to cook our Spanish recipes. Then we will go to our prestigious
cooking school and put on our aprons while the workshop will
last about two and a half hours and will consist of: Complete
menu with first and second dish and dessert, based on regional
or other typical Spanish recipes. We will finish with a delicious
lunch based on what we have prepared.
City visit: We will see the Cibeles and
Neptuno Fountain and Puerta de Alcala, the Puerta del Sol
and the majestic Royal Palace, just on the beautiful Opera
Plaza. From here, our guide will lead you on a private walk
to some interesting sites which currently form part of what
is known as the Madrid of the Habsburg, in
the area surrounding the beautiful arcaded Main Square (Plaza
Mayor). We will stop at a lovely bar to taste the famous hot
chocolate with churros, a typical sweet served as a snack,
for breakfast or during Spanish fiestas.
Rest of the afternoon free. You can try typical tapas in
this part of the city full of taverns and cheerful bars, suggestions
will be given.
Day 3- Sunday
After a full breakfast at the hotel we will head off the beautiful
valley towards Salamanca.
City visit: Among its many monuments we
will not miss the spectacular Main Square, the University
and its Cathedrals. Salamanca is famous for its delicious
Iberian ham and sausages. Lunch will follow.
In the afternoon we will drive on and check in at our fabulous
wine hotel and visit its own wine cellar right there. We will
have the opportunity to witness the old tradition of winemaking
in Spain, to learn the how, what and when of grape cultivation
and harvesting. We then will walk among their 1.450 barrels
and smell the wine as it ages, and for course, enrich or update
our knowledge during the tutored tasting from one of the top
wine producers of this region.
Free afternoon to rest at our hotel and have dinner in its
gourmet restaurant.
Day 4- Monday
After a full breakfast we will visit an Iberian ham drying
shed.
Did you know that Iberian cured ham is unique in the world
and that it is made with pure Iberian pork leg from acorn-fed
pigs?
The particular micro-climate of this region originates the
unequalled and finest of Iberian cured ham in the world. We
will have the chance to visit the installations of one of
the best ham producers in a village near Salamanca. One of
the owners will explain us the secret of how the “blacked
hoof pigs “are reared and their production methods:
Serrano means "from the mountains", as the cool
dry mountain air offers the perfect conditions for the curing
process. You will have the chance to taste this aromatic and
very fine meat, which is glory enough in itself.
We will then head on to Candelario and Bejar, two beautiful
antique towns very well preserved. We will have a typical
local lunch at a charming restaurant.
Back to the hotel and rest of the day free.
Day 5- Tuesday.
Last full breakfast. Today we will have the chance to visit
one of the most important ranches in breeding brave bulls
for the bullfights in the world. These cattle
are registered and their bravery is guaranteed. Any animal
that fails to exhibit the behaviour that distinguishes fighting
stock from other bovines will be replaced.
The very owner and also the cattle raiser will drive us in
four wheel drive vehicles (all-terrain) to the field where
we will see these huge and beautiful brave bulls, some of
them 700 kilograms of weight, just a meter away from our vehicles.
They will tell us the secrets about the breeding, selection,
pedigree, etc.
Afterwards we will enjoy a delicious lunch based on the specialities
of this region such as Castilian soup or garlic soup, mixed
potatoes, Salamanca meat stew, Iberian sausages, Armuña
beans….
Before we depart to Madrid, we will stop at a great castle
to have a coffee in its lovely dining-room.
Transfer to Madrid – Approximate arrival at 7-8 p.m.
