The original Roman Via de la Plata route joined the as knowadays
known city of Merida in Extremadura with Astorga and was built
by the Romas as a trade route. The Ruta de la Plata offers
two different ways with the choice between a route including
cities and monuments or the old Roman road (Calzada Romana).
Route of El Cid: read
This route covers the provinces of Burgos and Soria in Castile
and Leon, named after El Cid Campeador, the epical and historical
mounted knight from Castilla (Castile), and covers towns he
visited, such as Covarrubia and Burgo de Osma, when he left
Burgos in exile towards Valencia.
